There's really not much I can say to introduce or explain this scene. It's one of those rare cultural artifacts that defies explanation for its existence.

I had to watch that four times and check the comments on the youtube page to figure out how it was obscene. I was wondering if just the guy Prince was being considered inherently vulgar.
My only recallable experience with “finger” as a verb of a censor-notable sort was in the context of the movie Freddie Got Fingered, which despite being inherently censor-worthy merely by being a feature film starring Tom Green was advertised on national television.
